FRANKFURT, 21.12.1997
Endlich ! Seit meinem letzten
immer unruhiger, Kellys, Kellys-Rufe
die Bühne und legen mit « When the boys come into town
» los. Die Party beginnt. Aus den erschöpften Fans
werden gutgelaunte Partygäste. Ich weiB schon jetzt -
das Warten hat sich gelohnt !!! Und jetzt heiBt es
genieBen...
we miss your smile ».
Bei « I wish I were a swallow » fange ich auch
Angelo wirkt wirklich sehr erwachsen. « An Angel » -
Was ? Schon 16.30 Uhr ? Die Zeit vergeht echt wie im
Fluge.
Kelly ? »
Dann gibt er seinen Kommentar zu « We dont need
alcohol, we dont need drugs, we just need the
gefahren. Alle jubeln, denn jeder weiB was jetzt kommt :
« One more song ».
Menge Power.
Angelo stimmt « Because its love » an.
Ich glaube, jeder weiB, was jetzt kommt - « I
cant help myself ». Allen ist bewuBt, daB es das
letzte Lied ist, also heiBt es nochmal kräftig
mitsingen.
« SEE YOU ALL NEXT TIME »
Tanja, Wiesbaden.
BREMEN, 12.12.1997
Hi Leute,
Sagt mal, KANN SOWAS NICHT MAL OHNE DRÄNGELEI GEHEN
Also
Eure
Anja
THORSTEN's REVIEWS
This is a little story about my visit to five
Kelly-concerts from march '95 to august '97.
My first concert was at the end of March 95 in the
Frankenhalle in Nuremberg. In January, I had gotten
injured during the handball-training, and it was hard: I
had a complete rupture of all three outer bands (???) of
my left foot-joint. And because they couldn't operate it,
it took very long until the foot got alright finally -
during this long time I already had my ticket and hoped
so much that I'd be OK in time. Well, I went to the
concert still with one crutch (I didn't need it really,
it gave only assurance), but...probably this sounds
strange, but I just cannot remember if I left it in the
car or if I took it with me. Well...it doesn't matter, I
don't remember many details of this concert. But what I
still know is: I was really surprised in a positive way
of the songs the Kellys sang. I thought they'd play
mostly their actual album-songs - but instead of this, I
heard all the songs that are really typical for
Kelly-concerts, you know, the feel-good-songs, like Good
Neighbour for example...and they played some very common
german songs of this genre too, like An der
Nordseeküste". And so they really got all people on
their side, and it was so great because I didn't expect
such a great show and atmosphere. As for the audience, I
was also surprised, because I thought there would be 14
to 16 year old girls - that was wrong! There were many
people (and many BOYS!) in the age from 18 to 25 or so.
The second concert was just incredible, I didn't think
that an Open Air would be so different from an
inside-concert. It was in Bamberg (50 kilometers from
here, I never heard they make such big concerts there.
Maybe I was just lucky!) in August 95, and I was there
about two and a half hours before the beginning - and
when I arrived, all were already angry about a sign that
said The begin-time was changed from 18:30 to
19:30". Well - great, I thought. Now I have to wait
so much longer! But...it was good that they did it,
because so the sun set just in the middle of the concert,
so during the whole concert it went slowly more dark, and
that created a special and great atmosphere, as you
easily can imagine. And: I really had a fantastic place -
I was only five people-rows behind the gate that
separates the main area from the special area in front of
the stage. And there were no big persons in front of me!
And: It really seemed like there were almost no screaming
girls, but only enjoyers" - people who just
love the music, and even more now with an age from 18 to
30, I'd say. I remember this feeling I had...there were
slower songs, especially First Time, and it was so great
and somehow mysterious to look up at the already
half-dark and perfectly clear sky and hear tonight,
for the first time, all the stars shine...". And
then, when this song stopped, I suddenly felt cold, and
like I was surrounded by dark, but there were these
bright lights from the stage, so I looked away from the
sky and into the light, and immediately they started with
all the great, fast, clapping-and-jumping songs, and so
the cold feeling was gone, it was warm again, and it was
just fantastic!!!
After this concert, I was sure that there could never
be a better concert and a better feeling, and that
worried me a bit because...well, I didn't plan this to be
my last one! So there came the third concert - the one in
Nuremberg in the Frankenhalle again, in December 95
(imagine this!!!! Three concerts in 9 months!!!!). I
finished the chemistry lesson at 15:30, and I went
directly to the station and to Nuremberg - and when I
arrived there (at the station), it was about 16:00, and I
thought Oh, you still have soo much time - let's
look around in the shops a bit, otherwise you'd really be
one of the first and have to wait so long!" I
thought this because at the first concert, I was there
about two hours before and had a quite good place. I
expected it to be the same this time...but I was wrong!
Very wrong! I arrived at the Frankenhalle at about
16:45...and the only thing I saw was people!!! Such a
huge crowd of people, and that three hours before, all
standing in the cold!!!! I didn't believe it, I was
totally confused!!! Well, so I had to wait not as near to
the entrance as I thought... And when I finally was in
and it began, it was a horrible situation. Not that I was
farther away from the stage than at the first concert -
no, but the audience had changed completely! Only small
girls and even smaller boys with their mummy or their
aunt or their grandmother...well that was not necessarily
horrible, but I finally found myself among mothers and
fathers, with no sign of any singing or clapping young
person. AND I didn't see very much. Well...first thing I
thought was Oh God! If this goes the whole concert
long...shit!" Luckily, they had shortened the time
till the pause - at the first two concerts it was almost
an hour, now it was only about 40 minutes. And after
that, it changed totally: Many of the parents and
grandparents thought it was a good idea to go out for a
little while, or to go to the WC or wherever, so you
really had the feeling that the whole crowd moved all the
time - finally I had moved very far in the
stage-direction, I wasn't any more surrounded by quiet
people, and I had - once more - a very good view. And
then the fastest, the best, and also the most exhausting
concert started for me! They never had played and they
never played again so many of these fast,
jumping-clapping-and-singing-songs, and one after the
other, it just didn't stop! And in opposite to other ones
who started clapping and jumping only at the end of
songs, to save energy, I was always totally
in" the song from its beginning on. And very
often came the situation that my arms were aching so
heavy that I thought I just can't hold them above
my head! They'll fall down automatically in a few
seconds!" But because I really enjoyed it, I forced
myself to keep them up and to keep going, and not to clap
any less and not to jump any less high. And I forced
myself again and again, and of course I sometimes sang at
the same time, which exhausted me even more. I didn't
know anything anymore, I didn't feel my own body very
much, I only knew I loved it. And there is a certain
detail I also remember: At the end, when the song
We are the world" came, the people around me
didn't sing, or didn't dare to sing, so compared with
before, I found it a bit too quiet there. And a girl who
stood two people away from me seemed to think the
same...we both started singing quietly...then suddenly
our eyes met, and we both understood, and we started
immediately to sing as loud as we could, and finally some
other ones joined us. And we sometimes exchanged a large
grin during the song... Well, and then it was over. And I
was almost creeping to the exit. My right leg was totally
down-and-out, it didn't do anything it should, my arms
were just hanging down and joining my walking-rhythm, my
back was aching so heavy that I had to bow a bit, so it
looked like had a hunchback, my throat was so dry and my
voice didn't exist anymore! I just reached the place
where they selled drinks, bought a half liter coke and a
half liter mineral water at the same time and drank the
coke all at once, and the water almost too. Then I felt
better! And when I sat in our car and was driven home, I
remembered the bad beginning of the concert...and was
even more happier than I already was!
Then I waited for the next concert near Erlangen - I
was now almost used to see them every five months! But it
didn't come...so I decided to go to the Loreley in August
96. It was possible easily because my stepfather lives in
Frankfurt, so I just went there at this weekend and he
and my mother drove me there. I had heard much about
great Kelly-concerts on the Loreley, and it always
sounded like there must really be a very special
atmosphere, so this place became somehow mysterious to me
even before I had ever seen it. Well, we drove the long
and overwhelmingly beautiful route along the Rhine, and I
slowly got in the right mood, I expected very much from
this concert and I was also looking forward to it because
it was an OpenAir, and I remembered Bamberg. We had some
problems with the traffic and with getting up there, so I
was there only" about two and a half hours
before - and I realized that it had changed again!! Now,
there wasn't only a huge crowd there - like at the third
concert, when I was already surprised - but it seemed
like ALL people were there already, waiting to get in.
And when I finally entered, I was disappointed because I
didn't know it was made like an amphitheatre. Usually I
love such things, but here, I immediately realized how
far I was from the stage, because people couldn't stand
as close to each other as on flat ground. I really felt
like being in a football stadium, sitting quietly
somewhere in the upper rows and seeing the players as
small lego-figures. But it was of course an advantage
that you really had a good sight, so I just wanted to let
it begin and see how it was... What I didn't expect was
the difference inside the audience; I thought it's almost
the same as at the last one: many, many girls with
parents and grandparents (and one with her boy-friend
just near me for whom I really felt pity, he was
complaining about all and you saw that he didn't like
this at all, but his girl friend just took him with her,
so there was nothing he could do.). But the difference
was: They SCREAMED!!!! All the time!!! I thought only the
ones near the stage would do this...but I was wrong -
once again. (Imagine now the boy-friend I just described
when he finally realized at the beginning of the concert
that he would be three hours among loud screaming
girls!!!) And some of them tried to sing...terrible!!! I
don't know why, but this audience had no feeling for
singing, or for the rhythm. Some waved their hands too
slow, some too fast, some sang to deep, some to high,
some totally wrong...terrible! But of course I wasn't
really angry about it, most of the time I just laughed!
But because I was far away from the stage, I often didn't
hear the Kellys, only the girls near me, and when I heard
them, it wasn't even quite as loud as I was used to. And
because of this all, I really didn't feel any certain
atmosphere the Loreley should have...well, I tried to
enjoy the concert, although it wasn't easy, I just had
had too much fantastic concerts before. But I made it
somehow - after it, I said it was nice, and that's the
right word. Just nice, not more. And that was when I said
for the first time At the next concert, I want to
have a companion, someone who goes there with me, and
then we could go there longer before the beginning
(because the long waiting would be no more problem for me
if I had someone to talk), and thus have a better place -
and more fun!"
And the next one was Stuttgart in August 97. I really
didn't think that the nearest concert would be again so
far away, but my parents offered again to drive me there,
so it was no problem. I tried to find a companion, but
although I really wanted to have one, I didn't try very
hard, I think I was just a bit lazy and I also didn't
know how to find someone. So finally, I went there alone
again, to my fifth concert. And I was again less than
three hours before the beginning there, and I had again a
bad place. But this time, it was the worsest! I didn't
see anything, I was just too far behind, maybe the number
of people who come very early had increased again. But
what I realized was that the development of the audience
had been reversed a little bit: There were now more
enjoyers" again, and less
screamers", the difference was not so big, but
it was clear to see. This time, I really hated the
waiting, so it was great that they showed all the videos
to the songs on Almost Heaven on the two screens (I later
realized that this is a video you can buy). Thus, time
moved faster, and the more songs were played/shown, the
nearer the beginning came, so everybody got more and more
excited. Then it began - and the volume was sooooooooo
low!!!! I found it was almost as low as my radio at
home!!!! First, I thought it was a technical problem or
something like that, but it stayed like this for the
whole concert. So now, even without so many screaming
girls, there was the same problem with hearing the Kellys
as on Loreley. But the biggest problem was the view:
About 50% of the whole concert, I only looked at one of
the screens, not at the stage. And I really did not enjoy
this! There were two things that saved" the
concert for me: First, it was the fantastic show they
made. OK, I always love their show, especially Paddy as
the showmaster", but nevertheless, it was
different now because this was not a tour where they have
every day one concert and therefore always the same
program". No, here you really had the feeling
that this was your own" concert, a very
special and creative thing. Second was that they brought
about six new songs (most of which are on Growin 'up),
and that I liked them all immediately. But after the
concert, I really had doubts if the concert was worth
driving 200 km and back again, so I decided for myself
not to go to any more concert alone. But - I already have
the ticket for Nuremberg on Dec 22...and still I haven't
found a companion...
OSLO
My first Kelly-concert!!
I went with 5 friends (Hilde, Hege, Maiken, Marit and
Christine) and we arrived outside the hall around
12. A bunch of girls (and one man!) was allready there,
maybe around 30 people. I met some of my e-mail friends
and that was great! After a while some german guards
arrived and we were arranged in a queue, and they started
building up some fences by the entrance.
More people arrived, and we were maybe about 200??
Unfortunately there were a lot of "hysterical"
girls, and every time a bus drove by they started running
after it, thinking that it was the Kelly's!! Well, the
bus with the Kelly's arrived around 4 o'clock, but I
don't know how they were smuggled in.
Around five o'clock we were quite a big crowd. I think it
was sold a little over 1 000 tickets (the hall has room
for 3 000). The stupid thing was that people didn't get
in line, they just kept sneaking up along the sides. It
was really frustrating for those of us who had been
waiting all day. The guards told us to sit down all the
time, and they were really cool because they tried to say
it in Norwegian.
Well, when it was getting close to six o'clock people
started getting a bit impatience...and it was hard for
the guards to make them sit down. But five past six they
opened the doors, and then suddenly everyone got up and
started pushing towards the entrance. It was crazy for a
while, but the guards got it under control. (I can't
imagine how it's like at a concert with 40 000 people, I
thought this was bad, and we were only a couple of
hundreds!!! I'm glad the Kelly's aren't that popular here
in Norway.)
Well, we got in ten past six and we got a really GREAT
place, only a few metres from the stage, almost in the
middle, but a little bit to the right (because we wanted
to see Joey, at least Hilde and I!). We had only 3-4 rows
of people in front of us. We were told to sit down, and
everybody did. They played some Irish music, I think it
was the Riverdance. It was a really nice athmosphere,
except for a couple of stupid girls. Only half the hall
was used, and in the back there was a tribune with
sitting places, and it was actually filled with people. I
think it was those who came just out of curiousity, and
the older people.
Well, it was seven o'clock and everybody was really
excited, but the Kelly's were late...
But after ten minutes all the lights went off, and people
started pushing again. But it actually wasn't so bad. I
had a really comfortable place. Suddenly The Kelly's came
on stage and it was a fantastic feeling!! At first it was
very unreal, just like watching a video, but after a
while I realised that this was really happening..... We
were really close to the stage and we could see everthing
really good. (I took a lot of great pictures.....I
hope....)
I don't remember excactly the songs, but this is the list
I've come up with. Correct me if I'm wrong.
*When the boys come into town
*Key to my heart
*You belong to me
*Roses of red
*I´ll swim I´ll swim (TOTALLY great, my new favourite I
think!!)
*Sick man
*Fell in love with an alien
*Why why why
*Baby Smile (Barby didn't smile at all. It wasn't nice to
see her like that.)
*Put on the red shoes (really nice, except some girls
started screaming like hell because Angelo came out from
the drums. It was hard to hear the song, and I felt sorry
for John)
*I wish I was a swallow (Maite)
*Good neighbour
*Wearing of the green
*Papa Cool
(These three songs were the highlight of the concert I
think. Everybody was jumping and laughing, even those who
weren't fans. I think everybody enjoyed these songs. I
surely did!!)
*An Angel (Paddy asked if we had ever heard about a
song called "An Angel" and everybody shouted
YES! He looked very surprised, and laughed! I guess he
hadn't expected that!)
****BREAK 15 MINUTES****
*Staying Alive
*Every Baby
*Ares Qui-mix. (I don't know the name, but I liked it a
lot)
*First Time
*Rock'n Roll Stole My Soul
*A new BEAUTIFUL ballad from Patricia. Her best, I think.
*Paddy started singing a silly song, but then Maite
interrupted him and wanted a faster song so they did:
*Hey diddle diddle (really fast!!! And Maite kept
teasing Paddy by bumping into him all the time. Paddy
laughed so much that he couldn't sing the last verse! It
was really funny!)
*One more freaking dollar (it was a great performance,
and Angelino was really cool during the rap)
*The Wolf (My favorite song! Joey was fantastic on stage
during the whole concert, but this song the best! He
jumped on to the loudspeakers, and he did a couple f
saltos. Well, in short terms he was just as crazy he use
to be, and the crowd loved it! Angelo was great on drums,
but we didn't get a drum-solo.....)
*Angels Flying (such a beautiful song. I hope it'll be
the next single. During this song Joey cried out:
"say a prayer for my brother". It was really
sad....)
*Swing low (this was really great!! I looked behing me
and I could see that the audience; even those on the
tribune, was enjoying it!)
*Take my hand (Paddy started "taking hands",
but this time not only the first row, but he went out
among the audience too. Kathy said that this was the
first time he had ever done this! Cool! )
*Nothing Like Home
They said good-bye, and Paddy promised to be back next
year!
*Because it's Love
*I can't Help Myself
After this it was totally dark, but we could see some
people on stage and thought the Kelly's were gonna do an
extra song. So we all started cheering, but it turned it
was only some technicians!! Everybody laughed, and we
started to break off. I left the concert hall with a
feeling of total hapiness! What a wonderful 2 & 1/2
hours! The Kelly's were great on stage. Except Barby who
was sad as always, and Patricia looked really tired. Sean
was on stage for some time, and he managed to charm us
all! But I noticed with surprise that they had cut his
hair!!??
Maite and Paddy were full of energy as usual, and
Angelino was doing great behind the drums. But the true
"King Of The Stage" was JOEY. At least that's
my opinion. He had some great guitar-solos, and he was
always doing something cool in his little corner of the
stage. You never get tired of watching him, because you
never know what he's gonna do next!!
The Kelly's really managed to pull of a great show in
front of a bunch of sceptical Norwegians (and a few
fans), and they deserve all credit for that! When the
concert was over I didn't hear one negative word. People
were really surprised by their on-stage power, and I hope
it will be more accepted to be a Kelly-fan after this.
Right now they're doing a second concert in Norway, in
Stavanger, and this concert is sold out.I wish I could
have been there!!
The concert was a fantastic experience, and I really hope
they'll come back. But I don't think I will every go to a
concert in Germany, or any big concerts. I can't imagine
how that can be any fun. 40 000 people pushing and
screaming... and you only see the Kelly's as 9 black dots
far far away. At a small concert like this they have
better contact with their fans, and everybody can
see&...!hear good. But that's just my opinion.
Anyways, the Kelly's really have great shows and I'm just
glad I could at last be a part of it! It was worth
waiting for.......
Lots of love from Veronica, Norway.
OSLO
Hello
My name is Lina and I'm going to tell you about the
concert in Norway. I was also in Denmark but that was
nothing to tell about. Norway was so much better! I meen
how many times do you have the chance to see The Kellys
with only 1300 fans. I was in front, YES!!! Well inside
we sat down, The Kellys were a little late. Well the
concert started with When the boys came in to town. The
new song were the best! All of them will be hits! There
was "I wish I were the swallow" with Maite, so
so great. And a new with Patricia, she sang something
like Life is silent now baby, try to see things my way.
And Johnny sang "Red shoes". Joeys new song was
the best "Angels flying". If you see
angels flying wawe good bye" Oh Joey!!!!!!!!!!!! And
Paddy sang I'll swim I'll swim I'll swim. A great song.
Against animal killing. A hit I'm sure. There were a new
kind of Ares qui, the lyric was in English and Paddy sang
a little spanish. Oh Barby you sang beautiful. She wasn't
so happy but she smiled sometimes and she wawed to the
audience. And Joey wawed to me, yes!!!! And I touched
Paddys hand in Take my hand, oh my god. And Vincent, he
is so good looking. Good work Kathy. Sean was also on
stage and he was so sweet. Well that wasn't details but
it was something any wasy!
Lina Carlsson
Oh just rememberd that Maite was so great, dancing all
the time. And Patricia sang beautiful. And Kathy sang
great to off course. But Jimmy wasn't there. Sad!!! Bye
LJUBLJANA
Hi!!!
I'm going to write you our review too. The concert in
Ljubljana was soooo cool, that I'm still without right
words for it. :)
There weren't any video screens, so we couldn't see new
video. At 20.30 concert started. First bad thing happened
right away. And that was: JIMMY DIDN'T COME!!!
Ok, here's the songlist:
- When The Boys Come Into Town
- Key To My Heart
then Patricia said hello and told us about filling
some papers, and then we'll got a letter from them every
year
- You Belong To Me
- Break Free
- Roses Of Red
- NEW: I'll Swim, I'll Swim sung by Paddy
- Ares Qui
- Sick Man
- Fell In Love...
- Why Why Why
- Baby Smile
- NEW: Put On The Red Shoes ballad sung by
John
- Good Neighbor
- Wearing Of The Green
- Papa Cool
Paddy started to count the public. Like one, two,
three...35.000 people!
- An Angel : Paddy and Angelo came in front
------------- BREAK ----------------
- Staying Alive
- Every Baby
- Ares Qui, I think in new, spanish version, sung by
Paddy and Barby
- First Time
- Rocking down the road
- Angelo's drum-solo with Hey, Hey, Hey
- The Wolf
- NEW: a sad ballad sung by Joey
then they made jokes: Paddy said: "we can go like
that" and he started to play a song. Then Maite said
she wanna some action.
- Hey Diddle Diddle only sung by Paddy and Maite
- One More Freaking Dollar
- We Will Rock You
- Swing Low with sport of course. Paddy, Angelo and
Maite were in the front, Paddy made a joke with "how
late it is" (like in Loreley). Then Maite pulled
Paddy back to the stage, because he wanted to go. Then
Paddy asked how many boys are there. It was quite a lot
of them. Then he wanted to know how many girls, and it
was so much of girls, that he said this is impossible,
because Maite sees just boys.
- Take My Hand
- Nothing Like Home
and then all was dark, until they came to sing the
new single
- Because It's Love sung by Angelo and
Paddy BEAUTIFUL!!!
- I Can't Help Myself (encore)
Sean was on the stage during first few songs, then he
left. He was counting teddy-bears, but he stopped very
soon, because it was too much for him.
And something little about this, what were they wearing:
Paddy - White shirt and green Scottish skirt, green socks
(Scottish). Really good.
Angelo - Red trousers and gold shirt (Like the photo in
Bravo is)
Patricia - Pastel color dress. Kind of yellow and brown
(mixed)
Barby - Red dress, spanish stile
Maite - first black dress with yellow parts, and after
break violet dress
Kathy- same dress as she wore on Bravo tv on sunday.
Pastel colors.
John - first dark blue trousers and dark white shirt, and
then that colored trousers (Like Jimmy in Bravo I think)
Joey- first gold trousers, then blue trousers and blue
shirt.
Sean - Blue trousers and red t-shirt.
Ok, this would be all for now. See ya soon!
Mateja (in the name of all fans on this concert)
OSLO
-- Hello Everybody,
Last Saturday was the best day of my life! Here is my
report. Eleven o clock :arrived at Skedsmohallen. Not so
many people there. A double decker bus drives in, load of
us run after us. The curtains are closed it must be the
Kellys! Eleven fifteen: Wait around the bus- realise it
isn&rsquot the kellys&hellip. L Begin talk to
Saskia, one of the kellys sound directors. Apparently she
knows Kathy well, but had hardly ever spoken to Angelo,
cause hes shy.. Give her a letter to give to Kathy, I
hope she got it. Eleven twenty: go and join the 30 or
something other girls outside the doors. Very near the
beginnig of the que. Twelve o clock: Another double
decker bus comes&hellip curtains closed. Run after it
with another load of girls (I was not
hysterical&hellip I just wanted to make sure it was
not the Kellys). Only crew no Kellys. All had longish
hair.. weird. A girl screams that we&rsquore being
moved. Rush back to the entrance, to find everyone being
told to go back 10 metres. We had to sit 4 in a row. I
was still near the beginnig though. Some fans who had
camped the night out, were really pissed off! Two o
clock: The gaurds finish putting up 2 gates at the doors,
and we get organised into 2 lines, sitting 2 and 2. I was
maybe only 7 metres from the beggining of the line.
Boring waiting, but ocuppied myself by talking to the
people sitting around me, met quite a few people. Keep on
walking round where the buses were parked. All the
windows and doors are covered in black plastic.
Can&rsquot decide wether Kelly are there or not. Four
ten: A bus drives past (smaller than the others and with
the curtains drawn). Only a few girls run after it. They
come back soon, with tales of how they had seen The
Kellys come out and be rushed into the building . Damn1 I
missed them!!! I go round the back of the hall, by the
buses. The doors are open and I can here someone playing
the drums Angelo?! Maybe! It was annoying that they were
so close, but I couldn&rsquot see them, only hear
them. Six o clock: After 7 hours of waiting they are
going to open the gates
any minute. Six ten: The second they open the gates , it
is chaos!! Everybody rushes in . I am being squeezed . It
was a horrible feeling. Thankfully I soon got into the
hall. I was in the 3rd row-just to the right of the
stage.
Seven o clock: For the last ¾ of an hour we had to sit
down, my legs began to fall asleep.. Seven
ten:&rsquoThe lights go off, everyone stands up and
rushes to towards the stage. I suddenly find myself in
the 2nd row. The Kellys come on stage..
I cound not believe it was really them. I could see
everything happening on stage. They were only 3 metres aw
from me!!! I was like I was dreaming. The bad thing about
being in the 2nd row was the pushing. Ok there might only
have been 1300 people there. But It was hard too breath
and whith in 5 minutes I was sopping wet. I could hardly
move, It was hell, by the break, I was really thirsty and
just wanted to have some room. I asked the guard for some
water. He said no, we weren&rsquot in Germany.. and
If i got some everyone else would want some. I was still
squashed. Even though it was the break no one stopped
pushing. The show was great though and I was
really happy to be so near to the stage and the Kellys. I
got a few good photographs, but none of my ones with
Angelo came out well. I f anyone has any of Angelo, I
would please like to copy.. I have 2 wondeful ones of
Paddy and a lovely one of Johnn. The 3 high points of the
show for me were. 1. John came to the right of me, and a
few of us called his name and waved to him, and he waved
back at us. 2. Kathy smiled down to us. 3. Angelo finally
came out from behind those drums!(After what seemed an
age, he finally sang, but it was wrth waiting for..). And
the let downs. NO JIMMY!!! Where was he? I don&rsquot
know, anyone know? I like him a lot and had hoped to hear
Nanana and Thunder. And Barby only smiled a few times,
she stood at the bak, moping and looking like
she&rsquod rather be any where else than on stage.
Patricia sang beautifully , but she also kept to the
back, and didn&rsquot look too happy.Sean was there
as well, he stood on the edge of the stage and picked his
nose, in front of 1000 people. He is sweet. Maite and
Paddy were wonderful. It was them who kept the show
going. Kathy, was lovely, she played and sung beautifully
and she smiled a lot too. Angelo, played wonderful on the
drums, but When he sung an Angel, he stole the show (In
my opinion, but then I like him the best. Please anyone
have any pics?!!!!) And Swing Low was great, very much
like in Live at Loreley , but this time Paddy
didn&rsquot whack Angelo in the face! One more
freaking dollar, was amazing, and I love it when
Maite.Angelo and Paddy rap.. Jump , Jump, Jump&hellip
It was the best night of my life. The Kellys did a
great job. A list of the songs they sang, I
am sure I have probably got some of the names wrong, or
missed a few out. I wrote the list 3 hours after the
concert. It was hard to remember! I know it
isn&rsquot in the order they sang them, I gave up on
trying to remember that!
When the Boys come into town (they started with this)
Swim, Swim (I can&rsquot remeber much of this song,
Iwas to busy looking at the Kellys!)
Swing Low (one of the best, they really got us involved)
Nothing Like home ( Kathy said, it was the first time
Paddy had played it live. He did a great job!)
First Time (One of my big favourites, Patricia
you&rsquore wonderful!)
You belong to me (sung beautifully)
Free as a swallow (This is going to be on the new cd,
maite sung it wonderfully.)
Ares Qui ( Ilove it when they sing in spanish!)
Fell in love with an Alien (great, as usual)
An Angel ( At last, Angelo sings, and he managed to sing
all the notes in the chorus. It surprised me that he sung
this, but it was so so wonderful, to see him so near.)
Put on Your red shoes(John sung nicely, but the Song was
dreary and went on and on )
Staying Alive (Joey really rocked on the concert, this
was great)
Every Baby (lovely, and involving Maite lying down on the
stage reaching out, interesting..)
Baby smile ( But Barby didn&rsquot .. maybe twice)
The Wolf (Greatly done by Joey)
Hey Diddle Diddle (Paddy and Maite laughed so much, they
couldn&rsquot manage to sing the last verse!)
Break Free ( I think Barby sung this.. I
don&rsquot remember1)
Papa cool ( all of them really went for it with this one)
Key to my heart (another of my favourite)
One more freaking dollar (Angelo , Maite and Paddy
rapping , it was cool.)
Take my hand. (I saw Paddy dissapear from the stage, I
couldn&rsquot see him. I think he was touching
peoples hand at he left side of the stage. I suddenly see
a white streak dash along by the barrier, the next minute
Paddy was back on stage. He had only been ½ a metre from
me! He was the white streak!)
Good neighbour (Kathy sings wonderfully, so does Paddy)
Wearing of the green ( I really like this son on cd, bit
it is miles better live)
Listen for once ( this I&rsquom sure is not the right
name. But Patricia sung a beutiful ballad, much like
First Time.
Ares Qui Version 2. ( Another spanish song, much like
Ares qui..it was ok)
You&rsquore an Angel (Probably not the propar name.
Joey sung a wonderful ballad. And I thought he only
rocked..!)
Rolling (this song is so funny&hellip i hope they put
it on the new cd)
The last 2 songs were wonderfrul, it was only Paddy and
Angelo
Because its love (I cried I think)
And finally and I thought they were never gonna get round
to singing it.. I can&rsquot help myself ( I cried,
it was the highlight of a wonderful evening. It felt like
I was dreaming..)
They then left the stage . Everyone began to leave. It was
wonderful to be able to have to have some space and be
able to breath again- But I was so sad it was over. I
don&rsquot think I will ever go to a concert in
Germany. Having seen them so close, it would be weird
just seeing them as dots 100 metres away. But Paddy said
they were coming back to Norway next year, I
can&rsquot wait. Waiting all day outside the hall,
was definitely worth it.

STAVANGER
Hi, my name is Elisabeth and i have
just been on a kelly concert in Stavanger(28.9.97). I`t

came in starting singing "when the boys came into
tawn", and
many more new and old songs. There was just one missing.
Jimmy, that was a pity.
20.00 they had 15 minits break, and when they came in
some of them had change their cloutes.Nice.
It cept going and Paddy was the one who talked and had
fun with us, he is so sweet.
They sang "swing low" and than "take my
hand" came, Paddy took my hand, it was so coold, but
lovely. Thank you,Padddy. After this there came a few
more songs, and than they said good bye.
But they came in again, Paddy on the guitar and Angelo on
the drums(hi is so,so,so good on the drums)and they sang
the new single"Because it`s love" wail they
sang it the rest took goodbyeand Paddy and Angelo was
still there.
The last song was "I can`t help myself", Angelo
said goodbye and things like that and than it was over.

Very short report Jimmy was missing and
barby was very silent that was a
shame , but the rest of the concert was great
take care Debbie
BREMEN 23.08.1997
Kamily in Bremen besucht.
"When the boys come into town", welches noch
Patricia ihren schönen Song "You belong to me"
allerdings seiner Leistung an diesem Abend keinen Abbruch
tat. Die anderen verbeleibenden Mitglieder waren
teilweise recht lustlos bzw. irgendwie abwesend. Dies
fiel besonders bei Barby auf. Sie brachte ihr "Baby
smile" nicht gerade smiling-like herüber. Aber auch
die anderen waren irgendwie nicht so ganz da. Es gab
Probleme bei den Song-wechseln - lange Pausen bei den
Übergängen - Selbst bei Kathy gab es Probleme mit der
Stimme.... Nach "An Angel" gab es dann eine
ziemlich lange Pause, ca. 45 Minuten. Dann startete Joey
mit "Staying Alive" (irgendwie passend) in die
2te Runde.Von dort an wurde auch das gesamte
Musikprogramm wieder besser... Es klappte wieder so
einigermassen mit den Übergängen und den Tönen. So
it´s love" anstand, gingen nochmal die
Eigentlich haette
dieses Konzert, wie das am 05.09.97 im
Georg-Melches-Stadion in Essen stattfinden sollen. Leider
"NANANA" verzichten mussten...Schaaaade :-(
Trotz Gipsbein spruehte Maite wieder voller Energie.
Einlass ungewoehnlicher Weise erst 2 Stunden vorher.
diszipliniert waren.
Innenraum hinsetzen. Was eigentlich auch vollkommen in
Dortmund, wo organisatorisch alles bestens ablaueft,
Jahr auch in Muenster :-I
bitteren Beigeschmack hatte.

Rotterdam (Ahoy) afternoon concert
21-09-1997
There were around 8000 fans present
at the Rotterdam Ahoy stadium Spotrhall, on Sunday
afternoon, 21 September, awaiting their favourite group:
The Kelly Family. When I arrived on my own at 11:00 there
were already several hundred lined up waiting to be let
in. I began speaking to 3 girls (one aged 19 and two aged
13) and after a while we decided to stay together
throughout the concert, and we succeeded to do just that!
At 13:00 we were finally allowed to enter the hall and
take our places (I was in the standing area in front of
the stage, just about 6 "rows" behind the
front). Several girls felt weak and fainted just before
the concert began. The concert was supposed to start at
14:00, but that was not the case, unfortunately. We had
to wait a further 25 minutes before they appeared on
stage (the clock in the hall said 14:15, but it was also
10 minutes behind). Finally, the Kelly's appeared and the
first things we noticed were no sign of Jimmy and Barby
looked depressed. I suppose the latter came as no
surprise to us as Barby has been feeling this way for a
while. The former took some, if not most, of us by
surprise. No one said why he was not there.
The Kelly Family began the concert with
the song "When The Boys Come Into Town", then
these songs followed (with no break):
-Key To My Heart
-You Belong To Me
-Break Free (Barby walked back
and forth carrying a bouquet of flowers)
-Roses of Red
-New Song (Stop Killing Now (?))
-Ares Qui
-Sick Man
-Fell In Love With An Alien
-Why Why Why
-Baby Smile
-New Song (Little Red Shoes)
-New Song (sung by Maite)
-Good Neighbour
-Wearing of the Green
-Papa Cool
-Nothing Like Home
-Staying Alive
-New Song (sung by Barby and
Paddy; had the same melody as Ares Qui)
-Every Baby
-New Song (sung by Patricia)
-New Song (Rock and Roll...(?))
-New Song (One More Song (?);
Paddy on piano)
-First Time
-Angelo's Drum Solo (crowd went
wild!!)
-The Wolf
-New Song (If You See Angels
Flying (?))
-Who'll Come With Me (David's
Song)
-Dat Is Het Water (?)(a Dutch
folk song)
-Hey Diddle Diddle
-One More Freaking Dollar
-Swing Low
-Take My Hand
-Because It's Love
-I Can't Help Myself
END
During the concert, both Paddy and Patricia made an
effort to speak Dutch (a good one, as well) and the
audience cheered! Good sign. During "Baby
Smile" a few of us sang "Barby Smile"
(typical) and she managed to give us a weak smile. The
rest were full of energy, but Angelo remained behind his
drums for nearly 99% of the concert. Sean walked around
the stage and often stuck his tongue out at us. Paddy and
Barby also asked how many girls and boys were present.
Paddy seemed disappointed (in a joking way) when he heard
a soft cheer when he asked for the boys. Barby said that
she saw the girls raising both arms, while the boys only
raised one, so it looked like there were fewer boys than
there actually were.
Before "One More Song", Paddy mentioned that
when they lived in Holland they became fond of tea, but
in Ireland the tea is better. The audience was not too
pleased about this. They also said they liked Dutch
liquorice (called "drop") and Maite told us she
also liked a brand of chocolate milk called Chocomel.
When Paddy began the new song, guess what Sean was
drinking? Yes, Chocomel. During this song Joey got up on
the piano and played a lovely guitar solo and Sean also
danced on the piano. Then Patricia asked Sean if he would
like to say anything to the audience and he ran away
crying. She apologised to him for that.
Later on, Paddy asked if we remembered a song from around
15 years ago with a particular tune which he whistled. He
called John, who had gone behing a speaker, and told us
that "John was onvce a little boy with a high voice.
Now he is a big boy with a low voice". John stood
there and smiled. :~) Then Maite and Paddy led us in the
song. After that they sang a song no one seemed to
recognise, first in English, then switched to Dutch. Most
of the audience sang along, except the German fans and
myself who did not know the song. Maite sr topped Paddy
and asked if we wanted a song which was better and more
fun. "Hey Diddle Diddle" was the result! During
"Take My Hand" we all joined hands and Paddy,
on the shoulders of one of the security, came around and
collected flowers and things as well as hitting hands of
fans. At the end they bowed, said their goodbyes and
left. A few moments later they reappeared and sang the
newest single "Because It's Love" which was
followed by "I Can't Help Myself" where Paddy
and Angelo were alone on the podium. We sang along with
them. The concert finished at 16:30!
A few personal notes. I felt that the energetic
atmosphere which I have both read and heard about was
slightly missing. Since this was my first Kelly Family
concert, I had expected ALL of them present, but this was
not so. Due to Jimmy's abscence certain songs were not
sung: "Nanana", "Thunder" and
"Cover The Road". They introduced 8(!) new
songs, instead. Some were possibly put there because
Jimmy was not present (Jimmy, if
you are reading this, we all felt your absence). Last,
but not least, Barby's lack of enthusiasm seemed to bring
down some of the atmosphere. I do not mean to insult her,
but she did try her best under the circumstances (Barby,
if you are reading this, we all hope you feel better
soon). By the way, Barby also made a good effort to say
some things in Dutch. I also hope that in the future, if
the Kelly's come again to Rotterdam, that all of them
will be present and that they will all be as happy as
they used to be.
A fan in Holland (I wish not to give out my name, because
this is from all of those who attended this concert)
STUTTGART

We went to see The Kelly Family in the Martinihal in
Groningen ( it was indoors) and it was just awesome. We
had to wait 7 hours outside before we could enter the
building but it was certainly worth to wait. We talked a
lot with other fans and we sang together. When we were
finally inside we had to wait another hour before the
concert would begin. We were in the front row !!!!
The concert was great, they played almostall the songs
from Almost Heaven and 8 new songs. At one point, Joey
climbed on top of the boxes, gave a guitar-solo and
jumped right off ( 10 feet high !!!!), that was really
cool.
One of the most beautiful moments came when Barby sang
and Joey, John & Paddy kneeled down while they were
playing their guitars. Later a piano came on the stage
and Paddy played and sang, halfway Joey climbed on the
piano and gave a guitar-solo Jimmy wasn't in Groningen,
we don't know why.
Maite couldn't sit still, despite her hurt foot she
danced a lot.
Barby, however, didn't dance at all.
At the end they played "Because it's love" and
then Paddy and Angelo sang
"I can't help myself" and Mariëlle and Ellen
started crying.
This was the first concert we attended, but definitly not
the last, On december 13 they'll play in Maastricht and
we are definitively going !!!
Greetings, Stefan, Ellen, Mariëlle,
Wendy & Wendy
Hello, how are you? We feel great!!! Wanna know why?
Well, because we have seen a Kelly-concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was so great!!!!! Only Jimmy wasn't there, that was a
pitty. And Barby was so very quiet. Paddy, Joey, John,
Patricia and Maite were so wild!!!!! They sang a lot of
new songs and Paddy even played on the grand-piano.
I(Diliana) even TOUCHED PADDY'S HAND!!! And I (Liesbeth)
have touched Diliana's hand. ARGH!!!!
This is what they wore:
Paddy: afternoon: green pants with red roses and a white
blouse. evening after the break: the same white blouse
and a white pants.
Maite: afternoon: purple pants, a pink blouse with a
purple jacket. evening after break: a purple blouse and
the rest was the same.
Angelo: afternoon: glasses!!!! yellow pants and a white
blouse. evening before break: red pants and gold
glittering blouse. after break: the same
Kathy: afternoon: a red dress with a sort of pull-over.
The pull-over was red with flowers evening: a red dress
without pull-over and after break a purple dress.
Joey: afternoon: glitter-pants and a white blouse
evening: glitter-outfit.
John: afternoon: glitter-pants and a
glitter-jacket, evening after break: blue (very
strange) pants with yellow and red and stuff. A coloured
t-shirt.
Patricia: afternoon: red tight dress and a white blouse
with sleeves under it. evening before break: purple,
black scurt with black jacket. After break: red short
skurt and the same jacket.
Barby: the green dress from OTH, you know, where we've
written about.
Sean: (only afternoon, 'cause in the evening he was to
bed)red trainings outfit with one blue stripe in the
middle.
Vincent: (only afternoon) brown blouse.
I (Liesbeth) have to tell you something. I changed my
faves. Now my faves are JOEY!!!!!, Angelo, Barby and
Paddy. Joey was just so cool at the concert! He sung so
cool and looked very sexy! We took some really nice
photo's. We hope they are all right. In the afternoon
Barby was gone when the song Baby smile started. So Paddy
sang the first part. The whole song went wrong.
Baby smile at the second concert was real cool. John,
Paddy and JOEY were playing a balled for Barby during the
solo. I think they said something her like: "You're
doing great!" It was really cool. That's the part
where I started to like Joey very much.
And almost at the end Paddy said that we had to go to bed
and walked away but Maite and Angelo didn't want to leave
so Maite ran after Paddy and pulled him back with his
hairs. That was so cool!!!!! Angelo came hardly from
begind his drums. He did a very good drumsolo by the way.
Angelo only sand I can't help myself, Because it's love
and Swing low and in the afternoon he sang An angel too.
Paddy's voice was strange through a microphone.
Oh yeah, they talked DUTCH!!!! That was so cute!!!!
VIENNA 1997 :
I have been to the two concerts in
Viennas' Stadthalle. On the first day (31st August) I
couldn't believe it. When I came into the hall (in Vienna
it was indoors) it was only half full. But people of
every age came on that day. I met a couple who were 76
and 70 years old. It was surlely one of the best concerts
of the Family since a long time. They seemed to be so
relaxed. Barby even danced again. It was so nice. Maite
with her hurt foot couldn't sit still on her chair but
always danced over the stage. The only sad thing was that
Jimmy was missing , they didn't tell us why. But seven
new songs were played each of it very very good. Paddy
sang two new, Maite, Barby, John, Joey and of course
Angelo sang his new one. Of course they played all their
hits. The playlist was quite similar to Asas' list(former
report).
On the second day (1st September) the hall was full with
about 12.000 people. This day mostly with young ones. But
very surprisingly there were only few crys for Paddy and
Angelo. Most of the time they sang along. The playlist
was the same with one exception. Patricia sang her new
song "You stole my baby". Oh that's a lovely
song. So on this day they even played 8 new songs. Maybe
because Jimmy was still missing. But as I read at Asas'
report he didn't feel well in Bremen either. I think he's
ill. Unfortunately Barby refused to dance on this
evening. I think she didn't like the crowed. On the day
before there were only 7.000 people maybe this suits her
more.
On both days Kathy played a lot on her violine. Maite and
Paddy fooled us when they started to play a country song,
it was quite a nice one. But after the first paragraph
Maite stopped Paddy and asked him to play something more
powerfull - and then they started Hey diddle diddle.
I hope they'll come to Austria again on their
Christmastour. Oh, I hope it so much and so do all the
Austrian fans, allthough there were less then last year
but maybe the reason was because of school was starting
in Austria on Monday and the day of the second concert
(31st August) was only published 2 weeks before the
concert.
Have a nice time and to all fans who are going to attend
a concert soon
- MUCH FUN. Astrid
BREMEN 1997 :
I just got home from Bremen (well...I
guess it was a few hours ago...). It was WONDERFUL!! We
got there at about 8 in the evening (friday) and put out
our blankets on the ground. The first thing we heard was
that they had now stopped giving out numbers...
Me and my friend Linda started talking
to 2 german girls that sat beside us, and they were very
nice. Our other friends from Denmark went for a walk, and
they found some people that sat and sand Kelly-songs, so
they were gone for a VERY long time. Ines and Jenny (the
German girls) kept an eye on our things while Linda and I
took a walk to discouver the area. We met a lot of nice
people, and a lot of unpleasant ones too. I can now
understand why the Kelly´s don´t like their German fans
so much...some of them were really rude to us!!
At 21.00 they said in the loudspeakers
that there were 2500 fans outside the stadio. As you can
understand, we didn´t sleep much that night. Well...we
didn´t sleep at all!! Linda and I gathered a lot of new
friends and they sat with us on our blanket and sang and
talked. Someone gave us a couple of candles, so that we
could see what we were doing. We had a great time, and I
got a lot of new good Kelly-friends!!
Well...enough about the night...you want to hear about
the consert, right? OK I´ll try to explain... They
started letting us in at about 16.00, after sitting
outside the gates for over 5 hours. At about 15.30 the
Kelly´s started their soundcheck inside the stadio, and
the crowd outside just went wild. Everybody stood up and
pushed against the gates. I got squeezed between a lot of
people, and almost paniced. It was really horrible. Well
as I said, they let us in at about 4 o´clock, and then
we sat on the "floor" inside the stadio for a
couple of hours. At aout 7, the crowd went wild again,
and we had so stand up until the consert started. At
19.40 (ca) we could hear the first tones of "When
the boys..." but no Kelly´s showed up...more than
on the videoscreen were they showed the video to
"When the boys..." and then "Every
baby". When "I can´t help myself"
started, everybody started screaming, but the turned the
video off and they "winded" the video. Then
they showed "Hey diddle diddle"(very funny!),
"Like a queen" and "Stars fall from
heaven". I really hope that "Almost heaven -
the video" will be released soon...i can´t wait to
see those videos again!!A couple of minutes past 8, the
Kelly´s finally entered the stage, and they played:
When the boys come into town
Key to my heart
You belong to me
Roses of red
I´ll swing I´ll swing (NEW...I´m not sure but I think
everybody sang it. It
was kind of "rocky" and I liked it.)
Ares Qui
Sick man
Fell in love with an alien
Why why why
Baby Smile (Barby was NOT happy...she was mostly in the
background and she
didn´t dance. Jimmy was also starnge...he was hardly on
stage during the
second part)
Put on the red shoes (NEW...a ballad by John...SO
beautiful!!)
Good neighbour
Wearing of the green
Papa Cool
An Angel
**************
PAUS
**************
Staying Alive
Every Baby
Ares Qui (a NEW strange version...)
First Time
Thunder
Rocking down the road (NEW rocksong by Paddy!!)
Angelo´s drumsolo
Shall I come back to you (NEW ballad by
Joey....beautiful!!)
Paddy started singing "An der Nordsee küste"
but Maite stopped him. DAMN!!
Hey diddle diddle
One more freaking dollar
We will rock you
the Wolf
Swing low
Take my hand
**************
Everybody went off stage and we could see them backstage
in the loge. Somebody filmed, and Paddy talked in the
microphone while they did his makeup and fixed his hair
before the shooting for the video to "Because it´s
love". Then they played "Because it´s
love" 4 (!) times and I LOVED it!! Then they played
"I can´t help myself", and then the show was
over... The consert lasted for 3 hours and 20 minutes
(incl break), but it felt like 30 minutes. I could have
stayed there all night!!
This was my first consert, but definatly NOT my last!! I
will go to both Copenhagen and Oslo in september...and I
REALLY long for it!!
